Personal Injury FAQs
Q: What should I do if I am injured?
A: First, take care of yourself. Get immediate appropriate treatment and follow up on that treatment. You may also consider keeping a journal of what you are going through as a result of the injury. Take photographs to record exactly how you look at the time the injury occurred, and during your time of treatment.
Notify the appropriate entities (insurance company, local government, etc.) about the incident so that you do not waive any time limitations. You may have a right, regardless of who is at fault, to have your medical bills and lost wages paid, at least in part.
Q: Should I provide the insurance company with a statement?
A: Not until you consult with your attorney. Any information you give regarding the facts and circumstances of your case and treatment may be used against you later. Be careful!
Q: How long will my case take?
A: How long it takes to resolve a personal injury case depends on many factors, including the extent and severity of the injuries, determination of fault and whether it can be settled or resolved at trial. Our attorneys have been representing injured Floridians for 30 years. We can asses the specific facts of your case and give you an estimate of how long it will take to reach a resolution.
Q: What will it cost me?
A: Carlson & Meissner handles personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. That means you do not pay any fees until we recover damages for you. The initial consultation with one of our experienced Florida personal injury attorneys is free.
