DUI FAQ

DUI FAQs

Q: What are the possible consequences of a DUI charge?

A: The consequences of a DUI can be serious:

  • You may lose your license
  • Your insurance premiums could increase
  • You could be fined
  • You could encounter problems applying for a job
  • You could even go to jail

Q: Will I lose my driver’s license?

A: While this is always a possibility, hiring an experienced DUI defense attorney can substantially reduce the risks of losing your license to drive.  There are many defenses to these charges, and only experience and hard work can help maintain your driving privileges.

Q: Is my professional license or commercial driver’s license in jeopardy?

A: Anyone who holds a federal license has to report the arrest within 72 hours.  A conviction can mean the loss of your right to practice in your chosen profession.  This is an urgent reason to contact us immediately to preserve your license.  If you have a commercial driver’s license or ever want to obtain one, a DUI conviction will cause you to lose your livelihood.

Q: Can my arrest affect my firearms license?

A: It is against the law to carry or use any type of gun while intoxicated.  If you have a license to carry a concealed handgun and are charged with a DUI, you will also likely be charged with the separate crime of transporting a loaded firearm or being in possession of a firearm while intoxicated.  Conviction can result in the suspension or loss of your handgun license.
